The U.S. DOT mandates the completion of five elements of training for hazmat employees: 1) General awareness, 2) Function-specific, 3) Safety, 4) Security Awareness, and 5) In-depth security training. This course meets the first required training element in the previously listed series, "General Awareness" training, and has been created especially for operations-level hazmat employees.
What You'll Learn:
- Why hazardous materials are regulated
- What activities are subject to DOT rules
- How to recognize hazardous materials
- The properties that cause a material to be “hazardous”
- The overall system of hazardous materials regulation
- How they fit into the big picture
Who Should Attend:
This training is designed for employees who work directly with or for a hazmat manager who has received full training and certification. It provides the essential background in how the Federal hazmat rules work.
For those with specific hands-on responsibilities for hazmat shipping or transport, this workshop must be combined with job specific instruction (online, on the job, or in a classroom) to comply with DOT rules.
