The U.S. DOT provides regulatory relief for the transport of "materials of trade" (MOTs). MOTs are specific types and quantities of hazardous materials (like gasoline) that are used to protect or serve a motor vehicle or its equipment (49 CFR 173.6). The U.S DOT requires that MOT shippers receive function-specific training to ensure compliance with these rules, even if their involvement with hazardous materials is limited to transporting only materials of trade.
This online course is designed to help material of trade shippers meet the U.S. DOT's function-specific training mandate (49 CFR 173.6(c)(4)). Upon completion, employees will understand what materials qualify for the MOT exception and what they must do to comply with the DOT rules.
Registration includes an easy-to-download compliance notebook, along with Lion's top-notch reference materials.
