Hazmat General & Security Awareness Online Course

Handling hazardous materials incorrectly can cause injury, illness, and even death, both among hazmat employees and the general public.  The U.S. DOT requires general awareness and security awareness training for all hazmat employees, meaning "any employee who in the course of employment directly affects hazardous materials transportation safety," at least once every three years.

This online training course is designed to meet the DOT training requirement at 49 CFR 172, Subpart H.

Registration includes an easy-to-download compliance notebook, along with Lion's top-notch reference materials.

Hazmat General & Security Awareness Training Topics:

  • Who is a "hazmat employee"?
  • What is a DOT hazardous material?
  • Lion's 10 Steps for Hazmat Transportation
  • Recognizing and responding to security threats

Additional Training:

For those with specific hands-on responsibilities for hazmat shipping or transport, this online course must be combined with job-specific instruction (online, on the job, or in a classroom) to comply with DOT rules.
