When hazardous materials are loaded incorrectly, serious injuries and incidents often result. It's essential that employees understand the requirements for proper hazmat loading. Training is mandatory for all employees who load or unload hazmat and who can affect its safe transport. Civil penalties for hazmat violations are now up to $50,000 per day, per incident and $100,000 per day, per incident if the incident results in serious injury, illness, death, or property damage.
This course is designed to satisfy the U.S. DOT's "general and security awareness" and "function-specific" training mandates for employees who load or unload hazmat. After completing this course, employees will know how to recognize a DOT-regulated hazardous material, how to safely load and unload hazmat from motor vehicles, and how to select and affix placards.
