Hazardous materials training is required for all “hazmat employees” under the U.S. DOT hazardous materials regulations (49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H). Hazmat training is required within 90 days for new employees; it must be repeated every three years and periodically as rules change. (See Hazmat Training FAQs.) Civil penalties are now up to $55,000 per day, per violation.
This online course provides comprehensive DOT training for those responsible for shipping hazardous materials. Using Lion's Ten Steps™ for hazardous materials transportation, you will learn a systematic approach for applying the rules to your materials. The course also covers the U.S. EPA Hazardous Waste Manifest instructions and requirements. Note that additional RCRA hazardous waste training may be required if you manage, handle, or store hazardous waste.
