Shipping Limited Quantities and Consumer Commodities Online Course

The U.S. DOT, IATA, and the IMO provide regulatory relief for shipping small quantities of certain hazardous materials (e.g., select paints, solvents, cosmetics, automobile supplies, fuels, and fuel additives).  The rules vary based on whether the materials are shipped by ground, air, or vessel. In 2011, the new rules for shipping consumer commodities were introduced.  In addition, DOT training is required within 90 days for new employees; recurrent training is required every three years and periodically as rules change (see Hazmat Training FAQ).  Civil penalties for non-compliance are now up to $55,000 per day, per violation.

This online course is designed to help shippers of limited quantities and consumer commodities meet the U.S. DOT's general awareness, security awareness, and function-specific training mandate (49 CFR 172, Subpart H). Students who complete this course will be prepared to package, mark, and label shipments, as well as prepare the shipping paper documentation for ground, air, and ocean transport.

Registration includes an easy-to-download compliance notebook, along with Lion's top-notch reference materials.
