1. How did I get signed up for this course?
Lion offers a free web-based training course to all attendees of our Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management workshop, Hazardous Materials Transportation workshop, or Complete Environmental Regulations workshop. If you provided a valid e-mail address when you signed up for one of the above workshops, you should have received an e-mail message automatically enrolling you in the online course. There is no additional cost to you for this training.

2. Do I have to take this course?
There is no requirement to take or complete the online course. If you choose not to take the online course, you don't need to do anything further. Each courses is designed to give you a head start on the content of the public workshop. If you are new to the topic, we encourage you to make use of the online training. Doing so will help you to get more out of the workshop itself.

3. Will I be graded on the online training? What if I do not pass?
The online course includes exercises and a final quiz that are graded. If you choose to complete the full course, including all exercises, you will receive a separate certificate for this training, which you can download and print for yourself. However, passing the online training is not necessary to successful completion and certification in the workshop.

4. Will the online training be repeated in the workshop?
In each case, the online training gives more detail on certain introductory material than is provided in the workshop itself. It allows you time to study and understand this introductory material at your own pace. If you are already experienced in the subject matter, you may find this detailed training redundant. If you are not, we expect you will find it valuable.

5. Do I need any special equipment to take the online training?
You need a PC with Internet connection and speakers. A high-speed Internet connection is preferable, but the training can be completed over a modem.
You will need to install a couple of plug-ins in order to complete the training, and you will need to enable JavaScript and cookies. If all of this sounds Greek to you, just go to www.lion.com/PCTest.asp and click the "Test PC" button.

6. What is the online training about and how long will it take?
Each course is an introduction to the topic of the workshop. How long it takes will depend on how much time you choose to spend with it. Average time spent by students is listed below, per course. But how much time you invest is up to you.
Hazardous/Toxic Waste Management workshop students receive the training course RCRA 101: "Hazardous Waste Regulation: General Awareness" that teaches the structure and general principles of hazardous waste regulations. Average time to complete: 1–2 hours
Hazardous Materials Transportation workshop students receive the training course HMT 310: "Hazmat Classification" that teaches what kinds of materials are regulated as "hazardous" for transportation and how to use technical data to determine the hazard class of a material. Average time to complete: 1.5–3 hours
Complete Environmental Regulations workshop students receive the course EHS 101: "Regulatory Literacy" that teaches how to find, read, and understand environmental and health & safety regulations in general. Average time to complete: 0.5–1 hour
