Although used oil regulations are easy to meet, they are difficult to understand, thus causing some managers to "over-regulate" or even "under-regulate" their facilities.
This course is designed to demystify the often-misinterpreted used oil regulations under 40 CFR 279 by teaching waste compliance professionals strategies for handling, recycling, and disposing of used oil. Our knowledgeable instructors will help students develop their knowledge of used oil regulations and learn time and money-saving management techniques, such as regulatory reliefs that remove used oil from regulation.
What You'll Learn:
- What constitutes "used oil"
- Recycling and the rebuttable presumption
- Acceptable types of used oil recycling
- Which rules apply to mixtures of used oil and hazardous waste
- Oil filters, rags and other oily solid waste
- When used oil is excluded from regulation (specification used oil)
- Generator rules for managing, storing, and transporting used oil
- How to legally burn used oil for energy on site
Who Should Attend:
This course is designed for waste compliance managers, maintenance managers/engineers, and those responsible for waste oil management or disposal. It assumes students have a working knowledge of the hazardous waste classification and management regulations from 40 CFR 260-273. |
