  • EPA Homeland Security Strategic Plan, September, 2002
    A strategic plan developed by the EPA's Homeland Security Working Group to ensure that the EPA is able to meet its traditional mission and its homeland security responsibilities.
  • EPA Chemical Emergency Preparedness & Prevention Office (CEPPO)
    In recent years, initiatives have sprung up in the public and private sectors to determine how we maintain the quality of life and still manage chemicals safely. EPA has taken a leading role in building programs to respond to and prevent chemical accidents. EPA's activities in these areas come together in its Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office (CEPPO), organized in 1985.
Other U.S. Government Agencies:
  • U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB)
    The mission of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board is to promote the prevention of major chemical accidents at fixed facilities. The CSB also conducts research, advises industry and labor on actions they should take to improve safety, amd makes recommendations to local, federal, and state agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the U.S. Department of Labor, the key federal entities regulating industries that use chemicals.
  • US Department of Defense, Defense Security Service
    Conducts personnel security investigations, provides industrial security products and services, and offers comprehensive security education and training to DoD and other government entities. Also runs the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) for private industry and colleges/universities performing work on government contracts or conducting research and development.
