The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Published Information Sheet on Cigarette Lighters and Matches Onboard Aircraft—08/03/07
In response to the July 24, 2007 notice from the Transportation Security Administration repealing its ban on lighters in the cabin of aircraft, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Security and Hazardous Materials published a notice to air carriers and passengers. The notice is intended to remind air travelers that the hazardous materials regulations still have restrictions on the carriage of cigarette lighters and matches. The notice clarifies which devices can be carried, where they can be on the aircraft (i.e., checked luggage vs. carry-on), and what quantity limitations exist.
