Shipping infectious substances can vary greatly from shipping other types of hazardous materials. Those who ship infectious substances must be aware of these often subtle differences and must be able to perform their jobs accordingly. The U.S. DOT requires all hazmat employees receive general awareness, security awareness, and function-specific training (49 CFR 172.704). Air shippers must also comply with additional regulatory mandates provided in the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. With enforcement and fines for non-compliance on the rise, it is critical that shippers of infectious substances are fully trained in the regulations.
This online course is designed to meet the U.S. DOT and IATA's training mandate for all hazmat employees, and it covers the specific rules regarding shipments of infectious substances. Students who complete this course will be prepared to accurately classify and name infectious substances, as well as package, mark, label, and document these shipments.
Registration includes an easy-to-download compliance notebook, along with Lion's top-notch reference materials.
