Serious injury to human health and the environment can result from failing to properly manage hazardous waste on-site. Penalties for criminal violations are now as high as $37,500 per day, per violation.
The U.S. EPA requires all hazardous waste "facility personnel" receive training at least once per year. The EPA defines facility personnel as "all persons who work at, or oversee the operations of, a hazardous waste facility and whose actions or failure to act may result in noncompliance…" (40 CFR 260.10). See RCRA Training FAQ.
