Course Details

This IMDG Code hazmat training will help satisfy function-specific training mandates for professionals with responsibility for overall compliance with domestic or international hazmat/dangerous goods (DG) vessel shipping regulations.

Hazmat training is required within 90 days for new hazmat employees. US DOT and the IMDG Code require training for hazmat employees every 3 years (49 CFR 172.704 & IMDG 1.3.1).

We strongly recommend completing Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification (DOT) training to learn the US regulations before you enroll in IMDG Code training.

Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification (DOT) training covers critical requirements from US DOT's 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) that shippers in the US must know to ship by any mode, including vessel. This Hazmat Vessel Shipper Certification training covers additional, international regulations that apply to vessel shipments only.
Key Learning Objectives
  • Confidently navigate the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) and apply the regulations to bulk or non-bulk DG vessel shipments
  • Satisfy function-specific hazmat training requirements in 49 CFR and the IMDG Code for hazmat employees with typical pre-transportation responsibilities
  • Earn CEUs and maintenance points toward IHMM, ABIH, NEHA, and REHS credentials
