The U.S. DOT requires training for all hazmat employees who can have a direct affect on hazmat transportation safety. This includes people who:

Assure compliance with the hazardous materials regulations
Classify hazardous materials
Package hazardous materials
Mark and label hazmat packages
Prepare and sign shipping papers
Load the packages onto vehicles
Drive the vehicle
