Who Needs Hazmat Training

The U.S. DOT requires that all “hazmat employees” complete training once every three years, and whenever the employee’s responsibilities change. Training must be updated when changes to the regulations affect the way the employee carries out his or her job. Hazmat training must include general and security awareness, as well as function-specific training. (49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H).
