Bloodborne Pathogens (OSH 265)

All employees who could be exposed to bloodborne pathogens must be trained.

Needlestick injuries and other sharps-related injuries which expose workers to bloodborne pathogens (BBP) are an important health concern for workers and employers. Workers in many different occupations are at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens, including Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS. First aid teams, housekeeping personnel in some settings, nurses, and other healthcare providers are examples of workers who may be at risk of exposure.

Assure your employees are aware and know how to protect themselves from the hazards associated with bloodborne pathogens. This interactive online training course will provide step-by-step instruction and guidance on how to ensure compliance with OSHA’s bloodborne pathogen standards. It is designed to help a facility meet the OSHA BBP training requirement at 29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2) when used in conjunction with site-specific training.

Who Should Attend:

The course is designed for any employee who handles or potentially could handle materials contaminated with bloodborne pathogens. This could include those working in physician offices, medical technicians, ambulatory medical centers, dental offices, dialysis centers, drug treatment centers, home health care, hospice, blood collection centers, laboratories, emergency responders, and laundry and maintenance operations, and those handling regulated waste. This course could also be helpful for those individuals responsible for designing a bloodborne pathogen safety program at their facility.
