Who Needs DOT Hazmat Training?
Do you or your employees classify and name hazardous materials? Select, assemble, fill, or close packages? Mark, label, or placard packages or vehicles? Do you fill out and/or sign shipping papers? Or load or unload hazardous materials?
If you do, join us for DOT and IATA hazmat training in O-Town! US DOT requires hazmat training for all “hazmat employees,” defined in the HMR as anyone whose actions can directly affect the safe transportation of hazardous materials (49 CFR 171.8).
For new hazmat employees, DOT requires training within 90 days of hire or assignment. Recurrent hazmat training is required at least once every three years (49 CFR 172.704). Failure to provide hazmat training for employees can subject your site to a minimum
civil penalty of $508 per employee, per day.
