Final TSCA Risk Eval Scope Docs for 20 High Priority Chemicals Available

Posted on 9/8/2020 by Roger Marks

US EPA has released final scope documents for each of the next twenty high-priority chemicals scheduled to undergo risk evaluation required by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act or LCSA, which amended TSCA.

Under TSCA Section 6(b), EPA must evaluate the risks associated with conditions of use of all chemicals on the TSCA inventory. Of the 80,000 chemicals on the inventory, more than 40,000 are active in commerce.

EPA finalized its first list of twenty high-priority chemicals late last year.

Information found in each of the twenty new scope documents includes:
  • Hazards of the chemical(s)
  • Exposure data
  • Conditions of use; and
  • Potentially exposed or susceptible populations

Final TSCA Fee List Now Available

In addition to the scope documents, EPA published a final list of manufacturers subject to fees to defray the cost of these twenty risk evaluations. View the list.
