Workers can be exposed to silica during abrasive blasting work, stonecutting, rock drilling, or the manufacturing of bricks, cement, and asphalt. Silica is also used in adhesives, paints, soaps, and glass.

OSHA has published a Final Rule to extend the compliance dates for “certain ancillary requirements” of its beryllium exposure worker protections issued in January 2017.
