Update: US DOT is suspending authorization of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in rail tank cars until the agency can complete a new rule to modify the requirements, or June 30, 2025, whichever comes first.

DOT PHMSA's Final Rule amends the 49 CFR Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) to allow bulk transport of methane, refrigerated liquid (i.e., liquified natural gas or LNG) by rail.
