$71K Hazardous Waste Fine for Yonkers, NY Manufacturer

Posted on 4/29/2016 by Roger Marks

For allegedly generating and storing hazardous waste without a permit, a New York–based rail car manufacturer will pay $71,120 and come into compliance with the US EPA’s Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste law.

According to an EPA press release, the manufacturer stored dozens of containers of waste paints, solvents, and discarded gasoline at its Yonkers, NY facility. Some of the company’s hazardous waste containers lacked the proper labels, while others were corroded and leaking.
