Compliance Archives - June 2018
6/18/2018On June 18, 2018, the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) amended a previous rulemaking (June 2, 2016) that made miscellaneous updates to the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR)..
6/11/2018If your company uses forklifts, also called Powered Industrial Trucks or PITs, you are subject to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules for general industry at 29 CFR 1910.178. These OSHA regulations cover a range of topics--from training drivers on safe use to design and construction standards for forklifts, labeling rules, fuel storage, and more.
6/11/2018US EPA on June 1 released problem formulations for each of the first ten chemicals up for risk evaluation under the revised TSCA requirements. These documents “clarify the chemical uses that EPA expects to evaluate and describe how EPA expects to conduct the evaluations.”
6/8/2018In May 2018, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a new interpretation of the 49 CFR hazmat rules to clarify the agency’s position on package closures. 6/4/2018EPA will rescind some new chemical Risk Management Plan requirements for chemical facitlies promulgated in response to an April 2013 ammonium nitrate explosion in West, Texas that killed fifteen, injured 160, and damaged or destroyed 150 buildings.

Hazmat Shipping Professional
I will never go anywhere, but to Lion Technology.
Lion courses always set the bar for content, reference, and practical application. Membership and access to the experts is an added bonus.

I have been to other training companies, but Lion’s material is much better and easier to understand.
Lion provided an excellent introduction to environmental regulations, making the transition to a new career as an EHS specialist less daunting of a task. Drinking from a fire hose when the flow of water is lessened, is much more enjoyable!
I was recently offered an opportunity to take my training through another company, but I politely declined. I only attend Lion Technology workshops.
