  • Hazardous waste generator status
  • Satellite accumulation
  • Accumulation rules for small and large quantity generators
  • Notifications and reports for small and large quantity generators
  • Emergency preparedness and contingency planning
The four-page PDF Tutorial summarizes new generator responsibilities related to hazardous waste containers, container labels, emergency preparedness, site notifications, and more. It also includes a Finding Aid to help EH&S pros locate key requirements in the re-organized Title 22 hazardous waste regulations.

What is the “California Generator Improvements Rule”?

In 2024, California substantially revised the state hazardous waste laws and regulations, adopting new and stricter requirements from a US EPA Final Rule called the Generator Improvements Rule. That Federal rule took effect May 30, 2017.

California’s new and revised hazardous waste regulations are in effect as of July 1, 2024.
