NY to Add Right to a Clean Environment to State Constitution
NY voters approved a measure on November 2 to revise the New York Constitution’s Bill of Rights to add the right to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. The measure was included in the State’s local election as one of five referendum questions on the ballot.

VIDEO: Responders Roll to Hazmat Situation at Bowling Ball Factory
The City of Jennings, Missouri declared a State of Emergency on Thursday last week when a fire at an abandoned bowling ball factory created an “extremely complex and large-scale fire and hazmat situation” for local responders. A shelter-in-place order was issued for the city school district.

Senate Confirms OSHA Leader After 4-Year Gap
On October 25, US Senate confirmed Doug Parker as head of the Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in a 50–41 vote. This marks the first time OSHA has had a confirmed head administrator since January 2017, when then-leader David Michaels stepped down.

EPA Unveils National PFAS Strategy
On October 18, EPA Administrator Michael Regan announced a comprehensive Strategic Roadmap to combat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination nationwide. The Roadmap is expected to introduce PFAS limits on drinking water nationwide, designate PFAS as hazardous substances, and lay a technical foundation on PFAS air emissions.
