Proposed Changes to TSCA SNUR Rules for Chemical Manufacturers
US EPA has proposed changes to the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) chemical reporting requirements intended in part to align the TSCA rules with OSHA’s Hazard Communication, or “HazCom,” Standard (HCS) and other best safety practices.

Scrap Metal Recycler Convicted of Multiple Felonies for Hazardous Waste Violations
Last week, the owner of a California scrap metal recycling facility was convicted of multiple felonies and sentenced to sixteen months in prison for violations of the State’s hazardous waste control laws and the CA Health and Safety Code (HSC).

PHMSA Releases Safety Advisory for Defective or Damaged Lithium Batteries
The US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) today posted a safety advisory to the Federal Register to inform the public of the hazards posed by defective, damaged, or recalled lithium batteries and devices containing these batteries.

NMFTA Updates Bill of Lading Standards
New standards for Bills of Lading (BOL) used in ground transportation of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments took effect on August 13, 2016. They affect the Uniform Bill of Lading, the Straight Bill of Lading, and the Straight BOL-Short Form. US shippers and carriers should review the updated requirements, which are found in Supplement 2 of the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) version NMF 100-AP.
