The US Postal Service has revised its regulations to require separation of hazardous materials from other mail and add restrictions for pre-owned, damaged, or defective electronic devices containing or packed with lithium batteries.

Rule Clarifies Status of USPS Hazmat Regulations

USPS is amending the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) and 39 CFR to clarify that the regulations for mailing hazardous materials are found in Publication 52, Hazardous Restricted, and Perishable Mail.
