Illinois Warehouse Cited for $12K After Workplace COVID-19 Exposures & 1 Death

OSHA issued a $12,288 safety citation to a warehousing and distribution company in Naperville, IL for alleged safety violations related to a company meeting that led to 23 workers contracting COVID-19, including one who died.

Maine Autobody Plant Faces $400K in OSHA Citations

An autobody manufacturing facility in Waterville, ME has been issued citations from US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA noted two willful and 10 serious alleged violations of Fall Protection and Noise Safety Standards, totaling $393,992 in proposed fines.

Hospital Fined $108K For RCRA Violations

A hospital system in the DC metro area has been fined $108,304 by EPA for alleged mismanagement of hazardous waste. EPA announced the settlement last week on January 27. EPA cited various alleged violations of RCRA in its statement.

On November 19, the former president of a Wisconsin-based recycling company was sentenced to 18 months in Federal prison for conspiring to store and transport hazardous waste without the proper permits.

Haz Waste Violations at Over 200 Stores Cost Retail Chain $1.49M

A home, bath, and kitchen supplies retailer is expected to pay $1,498,750 to resolve alleged violations of California’s Title 22 hazardous waste regulations at more than two hundred of its California locations. According to the settlement, the company improperly disposed of hazardous and electronic waste (e-waste) at local landfills that were not permitted to receive it.

OSHA Fines NJ Landscaper $17K After Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Deaths

A landscaping company based in Cresskill, NJ has been fined $17,051 for allegedly exposing its employees to the hazards of carbon monoxide (CO) without the proper safety training, resulting in the deaths of two of its workers.
