Coast Guard Forms Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC)

The U.S. Coast Guard is establishing a Chemical Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC) to advise the Department of Homeland Security and the Guard on the safe and secure transportation of hazardous materials in bulk.
 
The Committee will include up to 25 members from chemical manufacturers, marine transport operators, vessel design and construction companies, marine safety or security companies, and marine environmental protection groups, all of whom are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Secretary of Homeland Security.
 
The CTAC may conduct studies, inquiries, workshops, and seminars at the direction or under the authorization of the Commandant of the Coast Guard. The unique industry perspective of the Committee will provide critical support to the USCG’s efforts to ensure the safety of the U.S. Merchant Marine.
