Maine Autobody Plant Faces $400K in OSHA Citations
An autobody manufacturing facility in Waterville, ME has been issued citations from US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA noted two willful and 10 serious alleged violations of Fall Protection and Noise Safety Standards, totaling $393,992 in proposed fines.

COVID-19 Rule Update: OSHA Gathers New Data, Postpones New Standard
OSHA announced plans to delay its new COVID-19 workplace safety standard while it gathers updated information on SARS-CoV-2. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh made the request for up-to-date “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analysis and the latest information regarding the state of vaccinations and the variants."

OSHA to Expand COVID-19 Inspections Under New NEP
On March 12, OSHA launched a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to protect high-risk workers from hazards related to COVID-19 exposure. The program expands upon its existing inspection efforts to prioritize companies with the highest number of workers at serious risk of contracting the virus.

Top 10 OSHA Violations of 2020
OSHA unveiled its preliminary list of the top 10 most-cited workplace safety violations for fiscal year 2020 during a National Safety Council (NSC) webinar last month. OSHA’s release of the top 10 list has become a staple of NSC events, normally coinciding with the annual Safety Congress & Expo.

Maryland Occupational Safety Agency Accused of COVID-19 Missteps
A public interest law firm, Public Justice Center, is calling for an investigation at Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH). The law firm accuses MOSH of failing to follow its own policies and procedures for investigating health and safety complaints during the coronavirus pandemic.

COVID-19 Safety Requirements for NJ Businesses
On October 28, Governor Phil Murphy issued Executive Order (EO) 192 to establish a set of minimum coronavirus safety standards that employers in the Garden State must adhere to in absence of Federal OSHA safety standards. The EO goes into effect at 6:00 am on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
