OSHA Expands Severe Violator Enforcement Program
OSHA is expanding the criteria for employers to be placed into its Severe Violator Enforcement Program (SVEP). The program is no longer limited to violations that led directly to a fatality, multiple hospitalizations, or other egregious violations.9/8/2022

Beef Company Agrees to Develop Infectious Disease Preparedness Plan
A food company has agreed to develop an infectious disease preparedness plan for seven of its meat-processing facilities. Following inspections in April and May 2020, OSHA cited the company for failing to protect workers from infectious disease hazards and issued a $14,502 penalty.

Oil Field Explosion Injures Three Workers, $467K in Penalties Issued
OSHA issued citations to two energy companies following an explosion on November 4, 2021, at an oil drilling site near Grassy Butte, ND that left one worker permanently disabled and two severely injured. Workers were assembling a blasting cap on a perforating gun when the perforating gun detonated, releasing shrapnel and other debris.
