Shipping Hazmat by Vessel (IMDG) – Ops

Course Code: HMT 220

This IMDG training course provides function-specific hazmat training for shore-side personnel on the unique International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) requirements for hazardous materials/dangerous goods vessel shipments.

Pre-requisite: We recommend completing Shipping Hazmat by Ground–Ops (49 CFR) to learn the US regulations before you enroll for IMDG Code or IATA DGR training.

Updated rules in the 2018 IMDG Code are mandatory as of January 1, 2020!

Hazmat employees who complete this IMDG training course are ready to prepare and offer dangerous goods for transport by vessel in packages or Cargo Transport Units (CTUs). Employees learn to mark, label, load, unload, stow, segregate, and document hazmat vessel shipments in compliance with the latest IMDG Code regulations.

Both US DOT and IMO/IMDG require hazmat training for all "hazmat employees."
Hazmat training must be repeated at least once every three years.

Registration includes:

  • Engaging, interactive IMDG hazmat employee training.
  • Relevant excerpts of IMO/IMDG hazmat vessel shipping requirements
  • Trusted compliance resources and references to simplify hazmat compliance.
  • Year-round updates to your course resources and alerts about rule changes.
  • 6 months of Lion Membership for complete compliance support.
  • Certificate to demonstrate competence in IMDG Code regulations.
