PHMSA Announces Hazardous Materials R&D Public Forum

In today’s Federal Register, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Office of Hazardous Materials Safety (PHMSA OHMS) announced they will host a public meeting on March 23 and 24 to brief the public on recently completed hazardous materials projects and PHMSA’s plans for future projects and research.

At the meeting, the Office of Hazardous Materials Safety will take suggestions of new research topics from industry, academia, and other stakeholders. In the Federal Register, OHMS lists items of particular interest, including:

  • Research gaps associated with energetic materials characterization and transport,
  • Safe transport of energy products (STEP),
  • Safe containment and transportation of compressed gasses, and
  • Safe packaging and transportation of charge storage devices.
