Lithium Battery Shipper Ultimate Guide

if you’re brand new to lithium battery shipping, there are 4 key principles you need a grasp of to ship them. Lion created an ultimate guide to these four keys that you can grab for free right now.

That guide is packed with important details—especially for beginners, about the types of lithium cells and batteries; Watt-hour rating; shipping batteries alone vs. in or with equipment, and insights for air and ocean shipping.

Recent Lithium Battery Regulation Changes

The most impactful changes for lithium battery shippers apply to air shipments only, for the most part, and include (but are not limited to) revisions that:

  • Eliminate exceptions available for some smaller lithium cells and batteries shipped by air,
  • Make changes to package markings,
  • Add a Test Summary requirement for manufacturers and distributors, and
  • Amend several IATA DGR Packing Instructions.
