Deadline Extended: Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program

Posted on 3/10/2026 by Lion Technology Inc.

US EPA has extended the submission deadline for greenhouse gas reporting under the Clean Air Act (CAA). The deadline to submit greenhouse gas reports for reporting year 2025 is now October 30, 2026, instead of March 31, 2026.

Reconsideration of the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP)

The deadline extension follows a proposed rule to eliminate greenhouse gas reporting obligations for all but one of the “source categories” subject to the Clean Air Act Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP) under 40 CFR Part 98.

The proposed rule leaves in place reporting requirements for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Systems source category covered by Part 98, Subpart W, with one exception: the Natural Gas Distribution industry segment.

In addition, the proposed rule suspends greenhouse gas reporting until reporting year 2034 for all Subpart W facilities still required to report.
