CSB Investigates Illinois Chemical Factory Explosion

[UPDATE 06/22/21] CSB deployed two members of its leadership team to the explosion site on June 21. At the site, they met with company respresentatives, on-site Federal and local emergency responders, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff, and Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) investigators to discuss the incident further.

Vermont Bans PFAS from Food Packaging and More

On May 18, Vermont Governor Phil Scott signed legislation into law that would effectively prohibit the sale of certain products containing PFAS. The legislation will ban these “Forever Chemicals” from food packaging, ski wax, firefighting foams, carpets, rugs, and aftermarket stain and water-resistant treatments.

Two affiliated hardware stores in Oregon were fined a combined $35,600 for failing to adequately protect workers from exposure to COVID-19, according to the State Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Oregon OSHA).

What is Hazmat Safety Training and Who Needs It?

US DOT and OSHA both require training for employees who handle hazardous chemicals. Does this mean that employers must train each worker twice–once to satisfy DOT's safety training rule and once to satisfy OSHA's? No, it doesn't.
