Transport Canada and PHMSA Team Up on Electronic Hazmat Shipping Papers
The Canadian transportation agency will partner with US DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration to launch the program, which will authorize stakeholders to use digital shipping papers on a trial basis.

EPA Enforcement Roundup: Auto Parts Dealer to Pay $11 Million for RCRA Violations
In this week's EPA Enforcement Roundup, a nationwide auto parts retailer and two affilitated oil recyling facilities pay $11 million and $39,092 respectively for alleged RCRA violations. Plus, a chemical manufacturing company faces $492,000 in penalties for allegedly violating CERCLA, EPCRA, and Clean Air Act regulations.

1 Month Later: Cleanup Slowing Down After NJ Chlorine Plant Fire
The Kearny Fire Department released a statement on June 6 outlining plans to begin site remediation on June 11. This would signal that there is no longer an active threat to public health, and any cleanup that is still underway has been contained.

EPA Enforcement Roundup: Week of 6/24
In this week's EPA Enforcement Roundup, an oil refinery agrees to pay a $1.6 million penalty and roughly $20 million in pollution control installations for Clean Air Act violations. Plus, a plastic bag manufacturer and an electroplating facility are fined for violating RCRA hazardous waste regulations.

Massive Explosions at Largest Oil Refinery on East Coast Shake Philly and NJ Homes
A large, three-part explosion at an oil refinery in South Philadelphia caused massive balls of fire to shoot into the sky and homes to shake in Delaware County, PA and South Jersey. An unintentional release of hydrocarbon vapors is thought to have partially caused the explosion, though it is currently under investigation.
