Defective Lithium Batteries Lead to Worldwide Smartphone Recall for Samsung

Early this month, Samsung issued a worldwide recall for all of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones sold to date. Dozens of customers have now reported incidents of the new smartphone bursting into flames, leading to concerns about the lithium batteries used in the devices.

EPA Adds 10 New Superfund Sites, Proposes 8 More

US EPA this week announced the addition of ten sites to its National Priorities List (NPL). Sites on the NPL are those designated to undergo cleanup of hazardous substances and are commonly referred to as “Superfund” sites.

Choosing the Right OSHA Safety Signs

Most safety professionals are familiar with OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) at 29 CFR 1910.1200 for container labels and Safety Data Sheets. But the HCS doesn’t cover everything. An oil and gas equipment firm will pay a hefty civil penalty for violations of RCRA hazardous waste management requirements at facilities in Cleburne, Jacksboro, Valley View, Barnhart, and Pleasanton, Texas.
