TSCA Reform Passes US House 403-12

The US House of Representatives approved legislation this week to overhaul the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) chemical management, reporting, and recordkeeping regulations. The nearly unanimous decision to pass TSCA reform in the House (the Bill passed 403 to 12) comes after lawmakers agreed on key points of the legislation earlier this month. The Senate is expected to follow suit and pass the bill as well.

EPA Takes No Action on RCRA Corrosives Challenge

A few years ago, the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) challenged US EPA to tighten its standard for identifying corrosive materials under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste rules. One year ago, a motion was reached that required US EPA to review its RCRA standard for corrosive hazardous wastes and decide if a change was needed.

Not Cool: Ice Cream Company Pays for Clean Air Act Violations

US EPA has cited a US ice cream maker for violations of the Clean Air Act Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements. In a press release posted March 29, 2016, EPA alleges the ice creamery did not have an adequate Clean Air Act RMP or proper safety equipment for leak detection and ventilation on its refrigeration system.
