Effective May 14, 2022, Montana revised its state hazardous waste regulations to incorporate Federal RCRA updates including the Generator Improvements Rule, aerosols as universal waste, management standards for hazardous waste pharmaceuticals (HWP), and more.

Oil Field Explosion Injures Three Workers, $467K in Penalties Issued
OSHA issued citations to two energy companies following an explosion on November 4, 2021, at an oil drilling site near Grassy Butte, ND that left one worker permanently disabled and two severely injured. Workers were assembling a blasting cap on a perforating gun when the perforating gun detonated, releasing shrapnel and other debris.

US Department of Justice Creates Office of Environmental Justice
On May 5, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced plans to create an Office of Environmental Justice (OEJ) within the Department of Justice (DOJ) to oversee and help guide the department’s environmental justice efforts in partnership with EPA.
