Updated: RCRA Corrections Rule is Worth a Look for Generators

Updated: On December 6, 2023, US EPA withdrew 8 amendments to the RCRA hazardous waste regulations that were included in a “technical corrections” Rule this year, one day before the Rule was set to take effect.

Update 04/15/2024: California's Department of Toxic Substances Control submitted the generator improvements rule final rulemaking package for review on March 22, 2024. If approved, the GIR will become effective in California starting July 1, 2024.

As of March 28, 2023, thirty-nine states plus Washington D.C. have adopted the RCRA Generator Improvements Rule. Plus, California DTSC released a proposed rule to adopt mandatory provisions from the Rule.
