Note: This online training will not satisfy field-based or practical competency HAZWOPER training requirements and does not cover job- or site-specific elements of HAZWOPER training required by 29 CFR 1910.120(q).

Employers must cover these required elements through instruction or hands-on training.

  • Demonstrate how to select and use PPE, incl. respirators
  • Apply OSHA requirements for PPE inspection, storage, and maintenance
  • Explain the rules for site monitoring, control, and security
  • Identify the types of monitors and detectors that hazmat technicians may use
  • Describe advanced hazmat mitigation techniques
  • Articulate the importance of an effective Emergency Response Plan
  • Describe how to implement appropriate hazmat decontamination
  • Detail the components of a medical surveillance program
