#1. The Hazmat Autocomplete Challenge (Part 1)

In a new video series based on Wired magazine’s popular “Autocomplete Interview” videos, we used a popular search engine to compile the 10 most-searched questions about hazardous materials transportation and DOT compliance.

Then, we invited hazmat instructor Flip De Rea to answer them in a completely unscripted fashion. The result:

#2. RCRA Hazardous Waste Autocomplete Challenge

We invited Lion trainer Ross Kellogg to answer the most-searched questions about RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
 

 

#3. Lithium Battery Labels & Markings Required as of Jan. 1, 2019

Who could forget? As of January 1, 2019, new lithium battery labels and marks became mandatory following a two-year transition period. If you’re not using new lithium battery labels on your packages yet—let this be a friendly reminder to start immediately. Learn more.

#4: Hazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals: New EPA Management Rules

Lithium batteries weren’t the only materials that got a regulatory overhaul in 2019. New EPA management standards for hazardous waste pharmaceuticals took effect in Summer 2019—including training requirements for employees, new accumulation rules and time limits, labeling requirements for pharmaceutical containers, reporting rules, and more.  

 

 

#5. FRA Withdraws Hazmat Train Staffing Rule

In our Lion Now video series, we summarize the week’s most-impactful headlines for EH&S professionals in 3 minutes or less.

In the week of June 18, 2019, that included the Federal Rail Administration’s withdrawal of a proposed rule to set minimum train staffing requirements for certain rail operations, including trains hauling large quantities of hazardous materials.
