SoCal Metal Fabricator Pays $64K for Title 22 Violations

Posted on 7/15/2020 by Lauren Scott

DTSC has issued a $64,350 penalty to a metalworking business in Lynwood, CA for alleged hazardous waste violations in the Golden State.

DTSC discovered the alleged violations during unrelated inspections in May and June 2017 to ensure a previous business at the same site was shutting down correctly.

The consent order claims the company allegedly failed to maintain and operate the facility in a manner that minimizes the possibility of a fire, explosion, or any unplanned release of hazardous waste; unlawfully stored flammable paint waste, paint booth filters, and soap tank residue; and unlawfully treated hazardous soap tank residue.

The metal finisher has since corrected the alleged violations and has been cooperating with State investigators.
