How to Help Houston Now

Posted on 8/30/2017 by Roger Marks

This week, individuals and organizations around the world are reaching out to provide support for those in Houston and the surrounding area impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The devastation is widespread—officials estimate 30,000 people may be forced to flee their homes as heavy rainfall continues to exacerbate the already catastrophic events of the past few days.

Below is a partial list of charitable organizations seeking donations and support to help them provide food, water, supplies, shelter, and medical attention to those affected.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
Houston Food Bank
Food Bank of Corpus Christi
South Texas Blood & Tissue Center
Carter BloodCare
Texas Diaper Bank
United Way of Greater Houston
American Red Cross
National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (NVOAD)

Catholic Charities of the Archdioceses of Galveston-Houston

Note: Lion Technology does not endorse any specific charity organization. The list above is intended to provide options for those looking for a way to help.

Whenever people are rushing to help in the wake of a disaster, fraudsters will work to take advantage of that generosity. To ensure your charitable donation goes to an organization that can do real good, check out Charity Navigator, Charity Watch, or these tips for the Federal Trade Commission.

Lion - Quotes

Given the choice, I would do all coursework this way. In-person courses go very fast without the opportunity to pause or repeat anything.

Ellen Pelton

Chemical Laboratory Manager

Very witty instructor, made the long times sitting bearable. One of the few training courses I can say I actually enjoyed.

John Hutchinson

Senior EHS Engineer

The instructor had knowledge of regulations and understanding of real-world situations. The presentation style was engaging and fostered a positive atmosphere for information sharing.

Linda Arlen

Safety & Environmental Compliance Officer

The price was reasonable, the time to complete the course was manageable, and the flexibility the online training allowed made it easy to complete.

Felicia Rutledge

Hazmat Shipping Professional

Our instructor was very dynamic and kept everyone's interest. Hazmat shipping can be a dry, complicated topic but I was engaged the entire time.

Kimberly Arnao

Senior Director of EH&S

You blew the doors off the competition!

I attended training from another provider and learned absolutely nothing. Lion is much better. Hands down.

Very well structured, comprehensive, and comparable to live training seminars I've participated in previously. I will recommend the online course to other colleagues with training requirement needs.

Neil Luciano

The instructor was very patient and engaging - willing to answer and help explain subject matter.

Misty Filipp

I can take what I learned in this workshop and apply it to everyday work and relate it to my activities.
