Scope Documents for First 10 TSCA Chemical Risk Evaluations Now Available

Posted on 7/17/2017 by Roger Marks

TSCA-chemicals-2.jpgUS EPA has announced the availability of documents that lay out the scope of the risk evaluations EPA will perform on the first 10 chemicals identified for evaluation under TSCA, as revised by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (“The Lautenberg Law”).

These documents will inform EPA decision making as the Agency performs its chemical risk evaluations. Information found in each scope document includes:
  • Hazards of each chemical;
  • Exposure data;
  • Conditions of use; and
  • Potentially exposed or susceptible subpopulations.
EPA announced the first 10 chemicals up for TSCA risk evaluation, selected from a 2014 Work Plan, in December 2016.

EPA will begin a new risk evaluation each time it finishes one. By 2019, EPA will be working on 20 chemical risk evaluations at any one time, as required by law.

In January 2017, US EPA raised the maximum civil penalty for TSCA violations to $38,114 per day, per violation.

One of the best trainings I have ever received!

Brandon Morfin

EH&S Manager

I was recently offered an opportunity to take my training through another company, but I politely declined. I only attend Lion Technology workshops.

Stephanie Gilliam

Best instructor ever! I was going to take my DOT training w/a different provider, but based on this presentation, I will also be doing my DOT training w/Lion!

Donna Moot

Hazardous Waste Professional

Excellent. I learned more in two days with Lion than at a 5-day program I took with another provider.

Francisco Gallardo

HES Technician

I have over 26 years of environmental compliance experience, and it has been some time since I have attended an environmental regulations workshop. I attended this course as preparation for EHS Audits for my six plants, and it was exactly what I was looking for.

Frank Sizemore

Director of Regulatory Affairs

More thorough than a class I attended last year through another company.

Troy Yonkers

HSES Representative

The workshop covered a lot of information without being too overwhelming. Lion is much better, more comprehensive than other training providers.

The instructor was very patient and engaging - willing to answer and help explain subject matter.

Lion courses are the standard to which all other workshops should strive for!
