Cal DTSC Answers FAQ About Re-organized Haz Waste Regs

Posted on 7/8/2024 by Lion Technology Inc.

California DTSC recently released an FAQ to help hazardous waste generators comply with revised and re-organized regulations that took effect on July 1, 2024.

"FAQ" #1 on the California GIR webpage relates to the re-organization of California's hazardous waste regulations in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (22 CCR). To help hazardous waste generators track down key sections of the state hazardous waste regulations that have moved as of July 1, DTSC provides a table that shows the "old" and "new" locations for those rules.

Re-located sections include regulations for counting hazardous waste, management standards for generators, emergency planning procedures, and more.

View the FAQ on DTSC's website.

Existing Location Description Proposed
Regulation
Section 66262.34 Hazardous waste counting Section 66262.13
Satellite accumulation area (SAA) Section 66262.15
Conditions for exemption for small quantity generator (SQG) Section 66262.16
Conditions for exemption for large quantity generator (LQG) Section 66262.17
Section 66262. ID Number and renotification Section 66262.18
Articles 3 and 4 of Chapter 15 Preparedness, prevention, and emergency planning procedures Article 9 in Chapter 12

Lion Members can see a more extensive list of re-located regulations in the 4-page exhibit added to Lion.com/Members last month.
