EPA Picks its E-Manifest Board of Experts

Posted on 3/21/2016 by Roger Marks

This week, US EPA announced the appointment of a Board of Experts that will help develop a national electronic tracking system for hazardous waste shipments, known as the electronic Manifest or e-Manifest system.

The Board of Experts will advise EPA about a fee schedule for the e-Manifest system, system performance, hazardous waste and hazmat shipping regulations, and options to encourage hazardous waste shippers and carriers to use the system.

When EPA last reported progress toward establishing an electronic manifest system for hazardous waste shipments, the Agency had asked for nominations for the Board, had started considering bids (which were due June 3, 2015), and was working to propose and finalize a fee schedule for the e-Manifest system—expected in May 2016.

EPA plans to deploy the electronic Manifest system in spring 2018.  For more information on electronic Manifest progress, including the list of new Board Members, visit EPA’s website here.
