New at Lion.com: Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Management Online Training

Posted on 10/16/2018 by Lion Training Staff

Lion Technology launched the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Management Online Coursethis week to help industry professionals in the Bay State meet their responsibilities under the state’s hazardous waste rules.

Why a Massachusetts DEP Hazardous Waste Course?

Professionals who work with and manage hazardous waste in Massachusetts must know their state’s unique rules to prevent releases, liability, and costly civil penalties. These state-only rules are not only critical to compliance, they are often stricter and more complex than the Federal standards.

“If you don’t know your state’s rules, you may be unaware of extra requirements that affect your site. You could even be missing crucial parts of your hazardous waste management plan, like waste streams regulated only in your state,” says Manager of Content Development Jennifer Harris, who worked for two years to develop and launch the new online course for Lion.com.

What's Different About the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Rules?

First authorized by US EPA to run its own hazardous waste compliance program in 1985, Massachusetts DEP creates and enforces its own hazardous waste rules, including:

  • Massachusetts DEP’s waste ID criteria

  • State-only hazardous waste codes

  • A state Recyclable Materials program

  • Fewer available exclusions for solid waste

  • Unique contingency plan release reporting rules

Meet Mass DEP’s Annual RCRA Training Mandate

The new online course covers the key differences between Federal RCRA and Massachusetts hazardous waste regulations. Managers and employees develop in-depth expertise to identify and apply the state hazardous waste rules that impact generator facilities in Massachusetts. The course is designed to satisfy Massachusetts DEP’s annual hazardous waste training mandate at 310 CMR 30.516.

Lion.com online courses give professionals convenient, flexible access to lessons and resources that simplify the job of regulatory compliance. The new course can be completed on any internet connection and dynamic content design ensures the training runs smoothly on a computer or tablet.

Professionals in Massachusetts can enroll now in the new online course at $379 per student.
