Where-is-EPA’s-2015-WOTUS-Rule-in-Effect-Now

For those keeping score at home, EPA's 2015 WOTUS Rule is now blocked in twenty-eight states and in effect in the remaining twenty-two states. In states where the 2015 Rule is blocked, EPA’s less-expansive 1988 definition of “Waters of the United States” remains in effect.

As proposed, EPA’s new pharmaceutical hazardous waste regulations will revise the rules for accumulating, counting, labeling, shipping, and disposing of these hazardous wastes. In other words, healthcare facilities should expect major changes to the way they manage pharmaceutical hazardous waste on site.

There’s already a lot about RCRA that’s new and different, in part thanks to the Generator Improvements Rule finalized in late 2016. EPA has more new rules planned for late 2018 and early 2019—two of which will simplify things for some hazardous waste generators.

EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler announced recently that US EPA plans to reveal its replacement for the 2015 Waters of the United States Rule, or WOTUS Rule, “in the next thirty days or so.”
