EPA to Remove 12 Substances from Approved Pesticide Ingredient List

EPA intends to remove twelve per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from the list of inert ingredients approved for use in pesticides. The chemicals proposed for removal are not currently used in any registered pesticide products.

On June 8, 2022, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed a bill prohibiting the incineration of any perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), including fire-fighting foams, effective immediately.

EPA Unveils National PFAS Strategy

On October 18, EPA Administrator Michael Regan announced a comprehensive Strategic Roadmap to combat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) contamination nationwide. The Roadmap is expected to introduce PFAS limits on drinking water nationwide, designate PFAS as hazardous substances, and lay a technical foundation on PFAS air emissions.

Cal DTSC Adds PFAS-containing Carpets to Priority Products List

California DTSC has designated carpets and rugs containing PFAS as “Priority Products” under its Safer Consumer Products (SCP) program.

US EPA and DoD announced draft Test Method 1633 to test PFAS levels in water, soil, biosolids, sediment, fish tissue, and more.
